MICRONEEDLING WITH PRP

VAMPIRE FACIAL

We offer Microneedling treatments and Microneedling with PRP treatments in our Frisco office to Dallas, Texas and surrounding areas. Microneedling with PRP is commonly referred to as the Vampire Facial or Dracula Facial. Microneedling is becoming one of the most popular skin care treatments. Microneedling is a safe and effective way to reduce wrinkles and treat scars without heat or ablation.  Using a process known as automated microneedling which creates thousands of microscopic channels in the skin in order to induce collagen.  Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) makes use of the body's natural response to healing in order to increase the collagen and elastin in the skin.  Collagen and elastin are naturally found in the skin, and they help give the skin a healthy glow and more youthful appearance.

Affected Areas

Microneedling with PRP (platelet rich plasma), also known as Collagen Induction Therapy is ideal for the treatment of acne scars, surgical scars, stretch marks, wrinkles and fine lines, hyperpigmentation, lax skin, sun damaged, large pores, and uneven skin texture. It can be performed either on the face or body, and is suitable for all skin types and colors.

How Microneedling with PRP Works

This therapy, also known as the Vampire Facial or Dracula Facial, is a minimally invasive skin rejuvenation treatment with quick recovery time, and is designed to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production. The treatment actually involves the use of two procedures, micro-needling and PRP (platelet rich plasma) done consecutively.

Micro-Needling

The first procedure is called Micro-Needling. A small hand held, automatic device that contains tiny micro-needles is passed over the skin creating tiny micro-wounds, or channels, on the skin. During the body’s natural wound-healing process of these channels, collagen and elastin are automatically produced.

PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma)

The second procedure is called PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma). Platelet Rich Plasma is produced from an individual’s own blood. After a blood sample is obtained from a patient, the blood is put into a centrifuge, which is a tool that separates the PRP from the blood. The blood is spun for approximately 15 minutes.

PRP contains highly concentrated amounts of natural growth factors and other cytokines that promote the regeneration process of soft tissues. The PRP is applied directly to the channels that were created from the micro-needling to further stimulate the natural healing process and creation of collagen.

Microneedling with PRP (Platelet Rich Plasma) for Hair Loss

Platelets, which are cells in our blood, contain different types of growth factors and PRP is the concentration of those platelets in plasma, the liquid portion of blood. The effects of PRP on hair loss are thought to be due to effects of the platelet growth factors on the hair follicles. PRP is obtained by drawing a small blood sample & then spinning the tubes to concentrate the platelets.

Rather than inject the PRP into the scalp with a syringe, our estheticians use microneedling, which is an almost painless technique, to apply the PRP. Microneedling produces thousands of tiny punctures in the scalp with a specific depth, through which the PRP can travel down to the hair follicles. There’s no downtime or special aftercare instructions.

PRP scalp treatments are usually initially done in a series of 3 monthly sessions, with touchups recommended yearly or more often if desired.

Androgenic alopecia is the most common type of hair loss with up to 80% of white males & 40% of women developing it with age. Until recently, the only effective treatments were drugs such as minoxidil and finasteride, or hair transplants. Scientific studies done in recent years have shown that injecting platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has a beneficial effect in inducing regrowth in androgenic alopecia hair loss.

Alopecia areata is an autoimmune-related disease that causes patchy bald areas, & some studies have also shown improvement with PRP treatments in this type of hair loss.

Recover

After the treatment, your skin will be slightly pink and feel slightly sunburned. For most people, your skin will completely recover in 24-72 hours. Your body’s collagen production usually takes about 4-8 weeks, so you will continue to see improvements over this time.
